Extension of Export Incentives and Schemes up to June 2023

The Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius has announced that the following Export Incentives and Schemes which were introduced by the Government of Mauritius, have been extended to June 2023:

1. Freight Rebate Scheme (FRS)

• The FRS reduces costs and transit time for exporters with the increase in the volume of containers to African regions.
• Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) exporting to the South African market are eligible for the FRS since July 2022.
• Exports from Rodrigues to Mauritius are eligible for the FRS since July 2022.

2. Trade Promotion and Marketing Scheme (TPMS)

• TPMS boosts and supports manufacturing companies in their quest to penetrate the eligible markets faster by making use of air shipment hence to enhance product delivery in terms of Speed-to-Market and increase competitiveness of local manufacturing products.
• Exporting agents of locally manufactured products are eligible for the TPMS since July 2022.
• Exports from Rodrigues to Mauritius are eligible for the TPMS since July 2022.

3. Export Credit Guarantee Insurance Scheme (ECGIS)

• ECGIS provides a refund on the Export Credit Insurance Premium to encourage eligible exporters to take an insurance cover for their direct exports worldwide to secure trading and boost up exports from Mauritius.

4. SME International Fairs Refund Scheme

• SME International Fairs Refund Scheme encourages SMEs to further promote and enhance their business activities through export promotion. Through this refund scheme, SMEs exhibiting at International Fairs are eligible for a refund of MUR 200,000 annually on the cost of participation, airfare, and accommodation.
• The Scheme is open to freeport operators for participation in international fairs since July 2022.
