World Happiness Report 2023: Mauritius ranked as the happiest country in Africa
The World Happiness Report, a publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, has used statistical analysis to determine the world’s happiest countries. The ranking considers a range of economic, social, and environmental factors, and offers insights into what makes a country a great place to live. The report ranks 146 countries according to their overall well-being, from the happiest to the most unhappy.
In the 10th edition of the report, Mauritius is the happiest country in Africa, with an overall score of 6.071 out of 10. It’s worth noting that Mauritius became a High-Income country in July 2020, but slipped back to its Upper-Middle-Income status in 2021 because of the global pandemic.
